Arokodare Earns Ajax Goal of the Month Nomination After Brace Against Sion

20 hours ago·1 min

Nigeria Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare has been nominated for Ajax's Goal of the Month award, recognised for a stunning strike in the club's UEFA Europa Conference League fixture against Sion.

The 25-year-old netted five minutes into the second half to complete a brace — capping an all-round impressive showing on the night. His effort was part of a fruitful month in which he scored four goals for the Eredivisie outfit.

Stiff competition from teammates

Arokodare faces a competitive field of nominees. He goes head-to-head with Pharrell Nash, Anton Gaaei, Abdellah Ouazane, and Julian Brandt for the prize.

Further contenders include Davy Klaassen, Oliver Edvardsen, Emre Ünüvar, Diego Pugno, and Isa Benyahia, making it a wide-open contest for the monthly honour.

Loan spell in Amsterdam

Arokodare is currently at Ajax on a season-long loan from Sky Bet Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers, and his form in recent weeks has underlined the value he brings to the Amsterdam side.
