Tolu Arokodare delivered a commanding performance on Thursday night, scoring twice as Ajax swept past Sion 5-3 in the second leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League playoff tie. The Dutch club advanced to the group stage on a dominant 9-5 aggregate scoreline.

It was Arokodare's first competitive start for Ajax, and the Nigeria international wasted no time making his mark. He opened his account in first-half stoppage time, latching onto a cross from Abdellah Ouazane and finishing with composure to make it 3-0 on the night.

Ouazane the provider again

Six minutes into the second half, Arokodare struck again — Ouazane providing the assist for the second time in the match. The combination proved lethal as Ajax put the tie beyond any doubt and sealed their passage into the group phase.

Arokodare had already left his mark on the first leg too, contributing a goal and an assist in that encounter. In total, the on-loan striker has now scored four goals and laid on two assists across five appearances in all competitions since arriving at Ajax on a loan deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.

The Nigerian's electric start in Amsterdam will give Ajax fans considerable cause for optimism as the Conference League group stage approaches.
