Barron Attracts European Interest as Scottish Transfer Window Heats Up

2 hours ago·2 min

Connor Barron, the 23-year-old Rangers midfielder, has emerged as a target for three major European clubs, with Bologna, Lazio, and Eintracht Frankfurt all reported to have registered interest in the Scotland international.

Ibrox exits loom for Souttar and Danilo

Two further Rangers players appear to be heading for the Ibrox exit door this summer. Defender John Souttar and striker Danilo have both been left out of the squad travelling to Spain for a pre-season training camp, a move widely interpreted as a sign that their departures are imminent.

Celtic busy in the transfer market

Celtic are pursuing several targets of their own. The club have identified Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek, 22, as a potential addition between the posts.

In midfield, Reims are willing to sell 27-year-old Mory Gbane, with Celtic joined by Trabzonspor and West Ham United in the race for his signature.

The Scottish champions' hopes of landing Egypt forward Haissem Hassan, 24, are also growing. Real Oviedo are said to be ready to lower their asking price for the attacker, improving Celtic's prospects of completing a deal.

Celtic face a battle, however, to secure left-back Marcelo Saracchi. The 28-year-old, whose loan spell at Celtic has ended, has been placed on Boca Juniors' transfer list — but Argentine outfit Estudiantes de La Plata are also in contention for his services.

On the outgoing side, Fulham have agreed to sign 16-year-old Celtic winger Erskine Rennie for a compensation fee of £100,000.

Elsewhere in Scottish football

Heart of Midlothian head coach Wouter Vrancken has confirmed that no concrete offers have arrived for forward Claudio Braga, 26, despite speculation linking the player with a move away from Tynecastle.

Torino sporting director Gianluca Petrachi has revealed that the Serie A club will open talks with Che Adams, 29, upon the striker's return from holiday following World Cup duty with Scotland, to determine whether he wishes to stay at the club.

Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin says winger Will Ferry, 25, is unlikely to feature for the club until his future is settled, after Ferry turned down a £1.8 million transfer to a Czech club earlier this month.

Aberdeen manager Stephen Robinson is targeting two wide players to bolster his squad following the exit of Finland winger Topi Keskinen.

St Johnstone manager Simo Valakari says a decision on trialist Bozo Mikulic, 29, is now required. The defender has featured in every pre-season match after his contract expired on his return from a long-term injury.
