Bauchi State has thrown its full weight behind Wikki Tourists Football Club ahead of the 2026/2027 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, with Governor Bala Mohammed unveiling the club's new home and away jerseys and the state committing ₦4 million in direct financial support.

The launch ceremony, staged at the Government House in Bauchi, also marked the formal introduction of new Technical Adviser Bala Abubakar Mohammed and the presentation of the Wikki Tourists Supporters Club's newly elected executive committee. A new sponsorship deal with Shafa Energy was announced as part of the occasion.

State's message: promotion or bust

Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Aminu Hammayo delivered remarks on behalf of Governor Mohammed, stressing that the administration stands firmly behind the club. Hammayo called on the management, coaching staff, and players to work as a collective unit with one goal — securing an immediate return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Hammayo backed those words with money, announcing a ₦2 million grant to the first team and a further ₦2 million to the Supporters Club, totalling ₦4 million disbursed at the event alone.

Pre-season work already under way

Wikki Tourists Sole Administrator Alhaji Haruna Bako revealed that the squad has already participated in two pre-season tournaments as part of a structured preparation plan. Bako added that the club is simultaneously pursuing reforms across its technical operations and administrative structure, while also scouting opportunities to expand its reach in international markets.

Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development Alhaji Bashir Ya'u pledged ongoing ministerial support to the club throughout the campaign. Club captain Shafiu Adamu Duguri also addressed supporters, promising that every player in the squad is fully focused on achieving promotion back to the top flight.
