Turkish Super Lig side Beşiktaş have turned away a €7 million bid from Saudi Arabian club Al Diriyah for Nigeria Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi, according to Turkish newspaper Milliyet. The Istanbul club are holding firm at a €10 million valuation and will not allow the midfielder to leave for anything less.

Ndidi has attracted significant transfer interest in recent weeks, with clubs from Saudi Arabia and across Europe keeping tabs on the 29-year-old ahead of the upcoming season. Despite the speculation, Beşiktaş appear determined to retain him on their own terms.

A key figure in Istanbul

Ndidi arrived at Beşiktaş from Leicester City last summer and wasted little time cementing his place in the starting lineup. Even after missing stretches of the campaign through injury, he still managed two goals and one assist across 31 appearances in all competitions.

Beyond the numbers, the former Genk midfielder drew praise for his ball-winning instincts, composure on the ball, and the kind of leadership expected of a Super Eagles captain. He was also named the club's vice-captain, underlining the regard in which he is held at the Vodafone Park.

Contract security gives Beşiktaş the upper hand

With two years still remaining on his deal, the Turkish club are in no rush to do business. That contract security strengthens Beşiktaş's leverage in any negotiations — meaning potential suitors will have to meet the €10 million asking price if they are serious about signing Ndidi this window.
