Ben Davies Signs New One-Year Deal to Extend Tottenham Stay

last week·1 min

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has committed to a further year at the club, signing a new one-year contract that extends his stay in north London through the end of next season.

The deal ends any uncertainty over the 33-year-old's future — his previous contract had been set to expire at the end of this month, with Davies widely expected to depart.

A Wales international, Davies first arrived at Tottenham Hotspur from Swansea in July 2014. The new agreement will take him into a 13th year at the club, a remarkable testament to his longevity at a single Premier League side.

Leadership seen as vital under De Zerbi

Tottenham's leadership rate Davies' experience and character as crucial assets heading into Roberto de Zerbi's first full season as head coach. The veteran defender is expected to serve as a steadying presence in the squad as the club looks to rebuild after a difficult campaign.

Last season was severely disrupted for Davies following surgery on a broken ankle in January, which limited him to just three Premier League appearances as Spurs narrowly escaped relegation to the Championship.

Despite that injury-hit year, his overall record at the club remains impressive — Davies has made 363 appearances for Tottenham across all competitions, contributing 10 goals during his decade-long tenure.
