Victor Boniface marked his return from a lengthy injury absence with a brace as Bayer Leverkusen demolished fifth-division German side Sportfreunde Baumberg 7-0 in their opening pre-season fixture on Saturday.

Boniface came off the bench in the second half to make it 4-0 in the 49th minute, then added a fifth goal just four minutes later — a confident double that signals his full recovery ahead of the new campaign.

Fellow Nigerian Nathan Tella also entered the fray in the second half and wrapped up the scoring with Leverkusen's seventh goal in the 67th minute, capping an impressive team performance.
