Brentford vs Tottenham: Premier League 2026/27 Season Opens With All-London Clash

2 hours ago·2 min

Brentford host Tottenham Hotspur at the Gtech Community Stadium on the opening day of the 2026/27 Premier League season, with kick-off scheduled for 5:30pm BST. The match is available on Sky Sports in the UK, Peacock and NBC in the US, and Stan Sport in Australia.

A summer of change at both clubs

Brentford arrived at this fixture on the back of a strong 2025/26 campaign under manager Keith Andrews, narrowly missing out on European qualification. The west London side have bolstered their ranks during the summer window, bringing in Jannik Schuster, Jaidon Anthony, and Callum Wilson. The standout arrival is Mamadou Sangare, a £41 million signing from Lens, who is expected to fill the midfield role vacated by Jordan Henderson. Striker Igor Thiago, who contributed 22 goals last season, leads the attack once more.

Tottenham Hotspur, meanwhile, enter this contest under a new era. Roberto De Zerbi has been given considerable funds to reshape the club following back-to-back 17th-place finishes — a stark contrast to the Europa League triumph that briefly lifted spirits in North London. The summer spending spree has delivered Sandro Tonali, Marcos Senesi, Matheus Fernandes, Van Hecke, and Andy Robertson to the Tottenham squad.

Transfer activity at Spurs may not yet be complete. Reports suggest that Manchester City pair Savinho and Omar Marmoush are being targeted in a joint deal, one that could push Tottenham's total outlay beyond the £300 million mark before the window closes.

Brentford's home advantage

Despite the quality of Tottenham's summer additions, Brentford will take confidence from their home form. The Bees dropped just three home games throughout 2025/26, making the Gtech Community Stadium a difficult venue for any visiting side. With Sangare and Thiago forming the core of their attack and midfield, Andrews' side will be no pushover on opening day.

How to watch

UK viewers can catch the match on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League, with kick-off at 5:30pm BST. Sky Sports plans begin from £35 per month, while existing Sky customers pay from £22 per month. In the United States, the game is broadcast on NBC and streamed on Peacock at 12:30pm ET; Peacock plans start at $12.99 per month. Australian fans can stream the fixture on Stan Sport, with kick-off at 2:30am AEST on Sunday. Stan Sport has introduced a Basic with Ads plan at AU$29.99 per month for the 2026/27 season.

FourFourTwo's prediction for the match is a 1-1 draw, with both sides expected to cancel each other out in a competitive West London encounter.
