Bruno Guimarães Tells Newcastle He Wants to Join Arsenal

Bruno Guimarães, Newcastle United's captain, has informed the club that he wishes to leave for Arsenal, Sky Sports News can confirm.
Newcastle United have declined to comment publicly on the development. Sky Sports News also understands that Arsenal have made no direct approach to Newcastle over the Brazilian midfielder's availability.
Despite the lack of formal contact, it is understood that the terms of a potential deal have been discussed through intermediaries on behalf of both parties.
Guimarães' contract situation
The 28-year-old has two years remaining on his current Newcastle contract, with an option for the club to extend that arrangement by a further year through to the summer of 2029.
Newcastle's firm stance
Newcastle United have shown no willingness to entertain a sale. Their position has been unwavering throughout the summer window — the club regard Guimarães as unsellable and have made clear they will not consider any bids for their captain.
