Burnley have moved swiftly to reshape their dugout, appointing Genk head coach Nicky Hayen on a three-year deal as the club prepares for life outside the Premier League.

The 45-year-old Belgian takes over from Scott Parker, who departed by mutual consent at the end of April following the Clarets' relegation from the top flight.

Hayen arrives with European experience, having guided Genk to a seventh-placed finish in the Belgian top flight last season. He also had a stint in Welsh football, managing Haverfordwest County between 2021 and 2022.

The new head coach acknowledged that supporters may be unfamiliar with his work — but he welcomed the challenge of winning them over.
