The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has stepped up its safety and security preparations for the upcoming 2026/27 Interclub season, hosting an online meeting on 10 August for Club Safety and Security Officers participating in the preliminary rounds of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

The session brought together officials from across the continent as the new season approaches, forming part of CAF's wider push to raise operational standards at its competitions and ensure clubs enter the campaign with a firm grasp of the governing body's requirements for safe stadium environments.

Key areas covered

Participants worked through several critical operational topics, including integrated planning and coordination, stadium security, access control, crowd management, communication protocols, and daily reporting procedures — equipping clubs with practical tools to deliver secure matchday experiences.

A shared responsibility

CAF Safety and Security Department Head Dr Christian Emeruwa opened the session by underscoring the collective nature of the challenge.
