Cagliari Striker Yael Trepy in Intensive Care After Pool Incident

Cagliari striker Yael Trepy is receiving treatment in an intensive care unit after reportedly losing consciousness in a swimming pool in Sardinia on Sunday afternoon.
The Serie A club confirmed on Monday that the 20-year-old is being treated at Santissima Annunziata Civil Hospital in Sassari, following an incident at a villa on the island. Sardinian newspaper Unione Sarda reported that Trepy was airlifted to hospital after the incident.
"The club is in constant contact with the healthcare facility and the player's family and is closely monitoring the progress of his condition," Cagliari said in a statement.
"At this time, Cagliari Calcio's thoughts are with Yael and his family. The club also requests the utmost respect for their privacy and will provide any updates when available."
Playing just days before the incident
Trepy had featured in Cagliari's 1-0 Coppa Italia victory over Arezzo on Friday, playing 54 minutes. The squad had been given the weekend off before news of the incident emerged.
The young French striker made eight Serie A appearances last season, finding the net once. He joined Cagliari's academy in 2022 after beginning his youth career at Parisian club US Creteil-Lusitanos, before working his way into the first team setup.
