Casemiro Signs for Inter Miami on Free Transfer After Manchester United Exit

Casemiro has completed a free transfer to Inter Miami following his departure from Manchester United, signing a contract that runs through to the end of the 2027 MLS season with an option to extend until 2029.
The 34-year-old Brazil international spent four years at Old Trafford after joining United in August 2022. During that spell, he scored in a League Cup final victory in 2023 and appeared in two FA Cup finals, lifting the trophy in 2024. He was also part of the United squad that reached the UEFA Europa League final in May 2025.
A difficult start, then a late flourish
Casemiro's time at Manchester United was not without turbulence. He initially fell out of favour under former head coach Ruben Amorim before fighting his way back into the first team over his final 18 months at the club.
His last season at Old Trafford proved his most productive in front of goal, with the Brazilian netting nine times in total — including five goals in 15 games under Amorim's successor, Michael Carrick.
United move on without him
Manchester United held an option to trigger a 12-month extension on Casemiro's contract, but Sky Sports News understands the club chose not to exercise it and did not offer a new deal. That decision, according to sources, was made well before the season concluded.
United have already bolstered their midfield options this summer through the signings of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, and are understood to be pursuing a third midfielder to complete their rebuild.
