Celtic Set to Intensify Pursuit of Torino Midfielder Gineitis

2 hours ago·1 min

Celtic are set to step up their pursuit of Torino's Lithuanian midfielder Gvidas Gineitis, 22, once the Scottish Premiership champions have concluded their UEFA Champions League play-off against LASK. Celtic lead the Austrian side 3-0 from the first leg, with the return match scheduled for Tuesday in Austria.

Gineitis caught the eye recently when he set up a goal for Scotland forward Che Adams in Torino's 2-1 defeat against AC Milan on Sunday — an impressive consolation that highlighted the young midfielder's quality on the ball.

Donovan backed for key role

Manager Martin O'Neill has given a public endorsement of right-back Colby Donovan, expressing confidence that the defender will take on a prominent role in the club's plans going forward.

Meanwhile, first-choice goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo, 24, has dismissed any concerns about Celtic potentially signing another shot-stopper in the current transfer window. The Finn appears relaxed about the competition for places at Parkhead.

Ure shines in Sevilla win

Scottish forward Robbie Ure earned his first start for Sevilla on Sunday and went the distance, playing the full 90 minutes as the Spanish side defeated Athletic Bilbao 3-1. The result was a positive step for Ure as he bids to establish himself in Sevilla's first-team setup.
