Nigeria Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has publicly apologised once more to Nigerians over the national team's failure to qualify for the FIFA World Cup and their defeat to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Chelle addressed the nation after the Super Eagles retained the Unity Cup on Saturday, following a commanding 3-0 victory over Jamaica in the final.

"I want to once again say sorry we didn't go to the World Cup, this is my feeling, sorry we didn't win the AFCON, I tried to do my job,"
Chelle told reporters.

The Malian coach also extended his gratitude to Nigerian supporters, acknowledging the backing the team has received. "I want to say thank you for all the support that was put in the team and once again I will give everything to this national team," he added.

Chelle signed off with a message of personal commitment, stating that he approaches his role with a determination to grow — both as a person and as a coach. "Football is football and every day I try to improve like a man and a coach, so I'll like to say thank you to this country," he said.
