Chelsea Ready to Cash In on Garnacho After Underwhelming Debut Season

Chelsea are willing to entertain offers for Alejandro Garnacho this summer, with the club already weighing a potential sale of the winger ahead of the transfer window opening, according to the Daily Mail.
The Argentina international arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer in a £40 million deal from Manchester United, where he had fallen out of favour under former manager Ruben Amorim. Garnacho had described the move to west London as "incredible," hoping it would reignite a stalling career — but the reality proved far more difficult.
A season on the fringes
Garnacho managed just 14 Premier League starts across the campaign and found the net only once, leaving serious doubts among the coaching staff. Enzo Maresca, Liam Rosenior, and Calum McFarlane were all reported to have reservations about the winger, despite his long-term contract stretching through to 2032.
The club appear unwilling to wait for that deal to run its course, with a departure now looking probable well ahead of schedule.
Alonso's rebuild takes shape
Chelsea appointed Xabi Alonso as their new manager last month, with the former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder set to take the reins at the start of July. Alonso is understood to want two or three "ready-made" additions to strengthen his squad, but the club must also trim a bloated roster that has underperformed.
The Daily Mail has identified Garnacho, Filip Jorgensen, Axel Disasi, and one of Liam Delap, Marc Guiu, or Nicolas Jackson as either likely or possible departures this summer. Chelsea are meanwhile said to be showing greater patience with Jamie Gittens — the £52 million summer signing whose debut season was disrupted by injury.
Fernandez situation more complicated
Enzo Fernandez and Marc Cucurella have each attracted strong transfer interest, but Chelsea are not actively seeking to sell either player. Fernandez has been linked with moves to Manchester City and Real Madrid, yet Chelsea would demand around £120 million to sanction any departure — a figure that makes a deal difficult to complete.
As Alonso prepares for his first window in charge, Chelsea's priority is reshaping a squad that failed to live up to expectations last season — and Garnacho's exit appears a key piece of that overhaul.
