Liverpool Plan New Contract Talks With Ngumoha Amid Bayern Munich Interest

Liverpool have firmly pushed back against reports suggesting that Rio Ngumoha's future at the club is in doubt, dismissing claims that Bayern Munich have already agreed personal terms with the teenage winger.
Sources close to Anfield insist the club are deeply frustrated by suggestions that a deal has been struck between Bayern Munich and Ngumoha's camp, stressing there has never been any question over where the youngster's future lies.
Bayern Munich angle dismissed
Reports had also indicated that Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany played a personal role in persuading the highly-rated attacker to consider a move to Bavaria. Liverpool have rejected those claims outright, with the club expressing doubt that Bayern would risk breaching transfer regulations by approaching a contracted first-team player without permission.
While Liverpool acknowledge that Bayern Munich are genuine admirers of Ngumoha's abilities, they make clear their stance has not shifted in the slightest.
Long-term future at Liverpool
The club regard Ngumoha as among the most exciting young talents on their books and have no desire to entertain any conversation about his departure. Internally, the focus is entirely on locking the 17-year-old into a long-term deal rather than fielding any offers from outside.
Ngumoha turns 18 in August, and Liverpool's hierarchy are already mapping out the next phase of his development. Under current regulations, players aged 17 may only sign contracts running up to three years — meaning the deal Ngumoha signed until 2028 last September, shortly after joining from Chelsea in 2024, was effectively the maximum permitted at that time.
Liverpool have always regarded that agreement as a foundation rather than a final commitment, with a fresh, longer-term contract expected to follow once Ngumoha comes of age. The club have shown no indication of wavering on their determination to keep him at Merseyside for the foreseeable future.
