Chelsea made Premier League history on Sunday — but not in the way Enzo Maresca's side would have wanted. Despite falling to a 2-1 defeat against defending champions Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, the Blues etched their name into the record books with an early goal from Morgan Rogers.

Rogers struck within the opening two minutes to put Chelsea ahead, making them the first club in Premier League history to score inside the first five minutes in each of their opening three matches of a season.

Arsenal's comeback seals third straight win

Arsenal recovered from conceding the opener to claim a third consecutive league victory this season. Kai Havertz — ironically, a former Chelsea forward — levelled for the hosts before captain Martin Odegaard delivered the decisive goal to seal all three points for the north London side.

A record-breaking start for Chelsea

Rogers' goal on Sunday extended a remarkable run of fast starts for Chelsea. In their opening fixture, Joao Pedro scored within the first minute of a 3-2 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage, where Xabi Alonso's side showed early attacking intent. In their second match, Romero Lavia opened the scoring in the 4th minute of a 4-3 triumph over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Despite the record, Chelsea now have two defeats to show alongside their wins, as Arsenal continue to assert themselves as the dominant force in the English top flight.
