Could a Leeds Move Fire Trafford Into England's Starting XI?

James Trafford is closing in on a reported £40 million transfer to Leeds United — a move that could shape the next chapter of England's goalkeeping story. At 23, he would become one of the most expensive goalkeepers ever purchased, behind only Kepa Arrizabalaga (£68m), Alisson (£62m), and Andre Onana (£43m).

A big fee for limited top-flight experience

The fee may raise eyebrows given Trafford's modest Premier League record. He made 17 appearances in all competitions for Manchester City last season — just four in the Premier League. Manager Daniel Farke and Leeds appear willing to invest in the goalkeeper's potential rather than his established pedigree.
