Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is set to miss three to four weeks of football after picking up a muscle injury during Lazio's Serie A fixture against Bologna at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara on August 24.
The Nigeria international was forced off in the 54th minute and replaced by Davide Frattesi. According to gazzetta.it, Dele-Bashiru has been diagnosed with a first-degree flexor strain, ruling him out of Lazio's upcoming league matches against Genoa, Udinese, and AC Milan.
The 25-year-old is expected to return to action for Lazio's clash with Venezia on September 19, provided his recovery progresses without complications.
Nigeria call-up under threat
The timing of the injury is a concern beyond club football. Dele-Bashiru's availability for Nigeria's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau next month now hangs in the balance.
