Dortmund Agree Season-Long Loan Deal for Arsenal's Ethan Nwaneri

Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement with Arsenal to take forward Ethan Nwaneri on a season-long loan, with the 19-year-old expected to travel to Germany for a medical before the Bundesliga transfer deadline at 19:00 BST.

The move accelerated after Dortmund suffered a blow to their attacking options when new signing Giannis Konstantelias sustained a serious knee injury during Saturday's 2-0 victory over Hamburg. The German club had previously attempted to sign Nwaneri during last summer's transfer window.

Arsenal have no intention of selling Nwaneri permanently. BBC Sport reported earlier this month that the club would prioritise loan arrangements for the teenager, who came through the Gunners' academy and has drawn interest from clubs across the Premier League and Europe throughout this window.

With manager Mikel Arteta overseeing a deep and talented attacking squad at Arsenal, Nwaneri's path to regular first-team football at Emirates Stadium was always likely to be narrow this season. Those within the club believe a sustained run of game time elsewhere will serve his development well.
