Camilo Duran scored twice at Celtic Park to deliver a morale-boosting Scottish Premiership victory over Falkirk and help the Hoops put their Champions League humiliation behind them.

Celtic had squandered a four-goal advantage to exit European football's premier competition, prompting manager Martin O'Neill to call on his squad to demonstrate their true character. The fans who greeted the players with a banner reading "world-class embarrassment" were quickly won over.

Duran strikes early

The turnaround in mood came as early as the 4th minute, when former Celtic goalkeeper Scott Bain gifted Duran the opener with a catastrophic error — the goal confirmed after a VAR check. The Colombian striker then doubled the advantage in the 29th minute, steering Kieran Tierney's cross into the bottom corner with a composed finish.

Falkirk fight back

Benjamin Nygren squandered a string of opportunities to extend Celtic's lead, hitting over the bar on multiple occasions and being denied at close range by the Falkirk keeper. The hosts were made to pay for that profligacy in the 72nd minute, when Colby Donovan turned the ball into his own net after Viljami Sinisalo had kept out Jacob Murrell's low shot.

That own goal introduced an unnecessary tension into the closing stages, though Celtic ultimately held firm to secure all three points. A late effort from Osmand was comfortably gathered by Bain to confirm the result.
