Sevilla head coach Luis García Plaza has moved to reassure supporters that Nigeria international Chidera Ejuke is very much part of his thinking, describing the winger as a player who brings unpredictability and dribbling quality to the team's attacking play.

Ejuke came close to departing the club during the summer transfer window and missed portions of pre-season as interest from other sides mounted. However, when those moves failed to materialise, García Plaza welcomed him back into the fold and the player has responded positively.

The coach pointed to Ejuke's goal against Athletic Club and several eye-catching substitute appearances as evidence of the winger's value, highlighting his capacity to unsettle defences, stretch backlines, and offer a different kind of threat whether introduced from the bench or named in the starting eleven.

García Plaza speaks on Ejuke's role

Speaking to futbolfantasy, García Plaza was direct about his belief in the Super Eagles midfielder: "Yes, of course. Of course I see it for more. And I, since I've been here, I've used Chidera Ejuke a lot. I don't know the numbers with other coaches."

He recalled the circumstances surrounding Ejuke's return to prominence, noting the long stretch without a starting berth before his own arrival changed things: "When I arrived I had, if I remember correctly, when I put it on the first day against Real Sociedad at home, a huge amount of games without being a starter. With me he has played all three League matches."

García Plaza also shed light on a specific tactical decision that saw Ejuke miss out on a starting role despite the coach's confidence in him. A last-minute change to Sevilla's game plan led to Julio Díaz being preferred for a particular fixture. "I mean, I like Chidera Ejuke and I can play in principle. What happens is that it is true that, I have explained, we had a game plan that changes us a day before. Then we believed that the one who best adapted to how we had prepared the game was Julio Díaz," he explained.

The coach suggested the timing of transfer speculation had not helped, noting that had the situation resolved earlier, Ejuke would have had more preparation time — though he was quick to add that the outcome of that match made the point moot.

For Ejuke and Nigeria fans watching his La Liga progress, García Plaza's words will come as a firm vote of confidence heading into the rest of the season.
