FC Utrecht have completed the permanent signing of Nigerian-born winger Emmanuel Chigozie Owen, who arrives from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen on a four-year contract.

The Dutch club beat out several rival suitors for Owen's signature, with the winger ultimately persuaded by FC Utrecht's long-term vision and the project on offer at the club.

Owen spoke openly about his first impressions upon visiting the club, describing the environment as immediately welcoming.

"The first time I came here, it immediately felt like a warm place," he told the club's official website. "I think I'm strong on the ball and I can physically do my part well. I am someone who is creative and loves to create opportunities, assists and goals."

The winger made clear that his priority is rapid development, expressing a willingness to play for either FC Utrecht's first team or Jong FC Utrecht as he settles into life in the Netherlands.

"My goal is to adapt as quickly as possible here in the Netherlands. I want to play as much as possible. Whether that is at Jong FC Utrecht or the first team, it doesn't really matter to me at the moment. I want to develop myself," Owen added.

Owen's arrival signals FC Utrecht's intent to build a competitive squad, with the young Nigerian adding creativity and physicality to their attacking options.
