Everton have reached an agreement to bring Jack Grealish back to Merseyside on a season-long loan from Manchester City, with the England winger expected to complete a medical before Tuesday's 23:00 BST transfer deadline.

Grealish, 30, is returning to a club where he made a strong impression last season — contributing two goals and six assists across 20 appearances before a foot injury cut his campaign short in January.

Grealish's preference was always Everton

Despite being linked with a number of clubs — including boyhood side Aston Villa — Grealish made clear he wanted to return to Goodison Park. Everton chief executive Angus Kinnear confirmed to BBC Radio Merseyside that the club had "remained in contact" with the player throughout the summer.

At Manchester City, Grealish has featured only twice under Enzo Maresca this season — appearing as a substitute in the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal and off the bench in a Premier League win over Bournemouth. He was not involved in City's 4-1 victory at Crystal Palace on Friday.

Busy deadline day for Everton

The loan move is part of a broader flurry of activity at Everton ahead of the window closing. Winger Iliman Ndiaye, 26, is expected to join Manchester City in a deal worth £65 million, prompting the Merseyside club to strengthen their attacking ranks.

Everton are also understood to be close to signing Folarin Balogun, the Monaco and USA forward, for a reported £40 million. However, their efforts to bring Brazil striker Richarlison back from Tottenham have hit a stumbling block over personal terms.

Grealish originally moved to Manchester City from Aston Villa in August 2021 in a £100 million deal — a British transfer record at the time.

Patterson linked with Torino move

Elsewhere, Everton Scotland defender Nathan Patterson, 24, could be set for a departure to Serie A side Torino before Tuesday's deadline. Talks between the two clubs are ongoing, though it remains unclear whether any agreement would be a loan or a permanent transfer.

Everton return to Premier League action on Sunday when they host Manchester United at 14:00 BST.
