Everton Seal £25m Deal to Sign Chelsea Winger Tyrique George

Everton have reached an agreement worth up to £25 million to sign Chelsea winger Tyrique George, with the deal structured around a £17 million upfront fee and up to £8 million in add-ons tied to European qualification and appearances.
Chelsea have also secured a 15 percent sell-on clause as part of the arrangement. The agreement is subject to personal terms and a medical before George's move to Goodison Park is confirmed.
From loan to permanent deal
George, 20, spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton after arriving on a temporary deal that included an option to buy at £25 million. The two clubs have since renegotiated the structure of that fee, reducing the upfront cost while spreading the remaining sum across performance-related incentives.
He made 11 appearances for the club during that initial four-month spell, starting just once, but caught the eye of manager David Moyes. The Everton boss described him as "an excellent boy with an excellent work-rate," signalling his desire to bring the winger back permanently.
A long road to a permanent home
George came through Chelsea's academy and has represented England at Under-21 level. Despite his talent, he has been available for transfer for the past 12 months. He held talks with RB Leipzig last summer, and a £22 million move to Fulham fell through on transfer deadline day in September 2025 before Everton finally secured his signature.
Everton's busy summer
George is set to become Everton's second signing of the summer window. The club earlier confirmed the arrival of Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough in a deal worth £16 million, excluding add-ons.
Meanwhile, German attacking midfielder Merlin Rohl has made his loan move from SC Freiburg permanent after an impressive spell last season. On the other side of the ledger, Idrissa Gana Gueye and Seamus Coleman have both departed after their contracts expired.
