Everton have secured the signature of Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney in a deal worth up to £24m, the club confirmed on Thursday 2 July 2026.

The 24-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year contract at Goodison Park, giving manager David Moyes a key addition to his squad ahead of the new season.

According to Sky Sports News, the fee is structured as £16.5m up front, with performance-related add-ons potentially pushing the total closer to £24m.

Hackney arrives with a year remaining on his previous deal at the Riverside Stadium, making this summer an opportune moment for Middlesbrough to cash in on one of their prized assets.

Moyes had identified recruiting a commanding No 6-type midfielder as one of his top priorities during this transfer window, and Hackney fits the profile the Toffees were targeting.
