FIFA World Cup 2026 Set to Shatter All-Time Attendance Record as Stadium Capacities Confirmed

2 hours ago·2 min

With kick-off just hours away, FIFA has released the confirmed seating capacities for all 16 stadiums hosting matches at the FIFA World Cup 2026 across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

The announcement represents the final operational milestone before the tournament begins, as host cities and venues stand ready to welcome millions of supporters from around the world to the largest FIFA World Cup ever held.

The most significant storyline surrounding the confirmed capacities is the near-certain breaking of the all-time World Cup attendance record. The current benchmark of 3.5 million cumulative spectators was set at the 1994 FIFA World Cup — also held in the United States — and FIFA has confirmed that figure is firmly on track to be surpassed.

That record looks increasingly fragile given the tournament's expanded format. The FIFA World Cup 2026 is the first edition to feature 48 teams, meaning more group-stage matches, more knockout fixtures, and ultimately more opportunities for fans to fill stadiums across three host nations.

Full list of stadium capacities

The 16 host venues and their confirmed capacities are as follows:

Atlanta Stadium — 68,239; BC Place Vancouver — 52,497; Boston Stadium — 64,146; Dallas Stadium — 70,649; Guadalajara Stadium — 45,664; Houston Stadium — 68,777; Kansas City Stadium — 69,045; Los Angeles Stadium — 70,492; Mexico City Stadium — 80,824; Miami Stadium — 64,478; Monterrey Stadium — 51,243; New York New Jersey Stadium — 80,663; Philadelphia Stadium — 68,324; San Francisco Bay Area Stadium — 68,827; Seattle Stadium — 66,925; Toronto Stadium — 43,036.

Mexico City Stadium and New York New Jersey Stadium lead the list as the two largest venues, each capable of hosting more than 80,000 fans. At the other end of the scale, Toronto Stadium and Guadalajara Stadium offer the most intimate settings of the tournament.

FIFA described global demand for tickets as unprecedented, underscoring just how much appetite there is for this expanded edition. Every seat across all 16 venues will contribute to what promises to be a record-breaking celebration of football on a continental scale.
