Alfred Odinaka and Abdulmuiz Adeleke have been rewarded for their performances at the WAFU B U-20 Championship, with the Flying Eagles pair named in the Group Stage Best XI by the tournament's Technical Study Group (TSG).

The TSG announced the selection following the conclusion of the group stage on Sunday, honouring the competition's most impressive performers across all participating nations.

Adeleke's goals drive Nigeria's campaign

Adeleke earned his place in the side on the back of a prolific run in front of goal. The forward struck four times in three group matches, establishing himself among the tournament's top scorers.

He opened his account with a brace in Nigeria's thrilling 4-2 victory over Ghana's Black Satellites, then added two further goals as the Flying Eagles dismantled Togo's Sparrow Hawks 3-0 in their final group outing.

Odinaka, meanwhile, secured a berth in the four-man defensive line after a series of composed and dependable displays that helped Nigeria navigate through the group stage as defending champions.

Burkina Faso and Côte d'Ivoire lead the team of the group stage

Burkina Faso and hosts Côte d'Ivoire dominated the overall selection with three representatives each, while Niger, Ghana, and Togo each contributed one player to the Best XI.

Nigeria finished second in Group B after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Burkina Faso in their final group game on Sunday. Despite that setback, the Flying Eagles advanced to the semi-finals, where they are scheduled to face Côte d'Ivoire on Wednesday.
