Nottingham Forest claimed a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday, deepening the misery for Unai Emery's side, who remain without a single Premier League win this season.

Oliver Glasner extended his remarkable record against Emery, with the Austrian manager now unbeaten in all eight meetings between the two coaches. It was also Glasner's first victory in charge of Forest since taking over the club.

Delap opens the scoring

Liam Delap gave Forest the lead with a long-range strike — his first goal since joining Nottingham Forest — arriving just seconds after the restart to put the visitors firmly in control.

Emery responded by introducing Johan Manzambi and Ibrahim Mbaye, two of his new summer signings, in search of a spark. The double change transformed Villa's energy levels, and the hosts were rewarded when Alysson struck his first goal for the club in the 74th minute to restore parity.

Villa reduced to ten men at crucial moment

With momentum shifting in Villa's favour, disaster struck when Ian Maatsen hobbled off injured in the 80th minute. Villa had exhausted all their substitutes, meaning they were forced to see out the final stages with 10 men.

Forest sensed blood immediately. Igor Jesus capitalised on Villa's numerical disadvantage in the 88th minute, tucking away a decisive finish to spark wild celebrations among the travelling support.

The result leaves Aston Villa rooted at the bottom of the early-season table with no wins from their opening matches, while Nottingham Forest climb into a promising position after a hard-fought away victory.
