Fulham Agree Personal Terms With Super Eagles Defender Chibuike Nwaiwu

Fulham have agreed personal terms with Nigeria international Chibuike Nwaiwu as the Premier League club intensify their efforts to sign the centre-back from Trabzonspor this summer.

The Cottagers have identified Nwaiwu as a priority defensive target and have already had two bids turned down by the Turkish Super Lig side. Despite that resistance, Fulham are prepared to return with a third, improved offer to get the deal across the line.

Four-year deal on the table

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, the 22-year-old has agreed to a four-year contract with manager Alvaro Arbeloa's side, clearing the path for transfer-fee negotiations to begin in earnest.

Trabzonspor, however, are standing firm. The Black Sea Storm are demanding a minimum of €30 million for the Nigerian international — a figure Fulham have yet to match with their previous submissions.

A rapid rise since January

Nwaiwu only arrived at Trabzonspor in January, joining from Austrian Bundesliga club Wolfsberger AC. His impact was immediate: across 21 appearances in the second half of the season, he scored three goals and contributed one assist, catching the eye of several European clubs in the process.

His commanding presence in the air, composure on the ball, and assured defending made him one of the standout young centre-backs in the Turkish top flight during that spell.

Long-term investment at Craven Cottage

Fulham see Nwaiwu as a long-term defensive cornerstone as they prepare for the new Premier League campaign. The club believe his profile — still only 22 and already operating at a high level in Europe — represents strong value at Craven Cottage for years to come.

Negotiations between Fulham and Trabzonspor are expected to continue over the coming days as both clubs work towards a transfer agreement.
