Genk Target Durosinmi in Club-Record €10 Million Move

Belgian interest builds

Belgian Pro League side Genk are lining up a move for Pisa SC striker Rafiu Durosinmi, with the Smurfs reportedly ready to spend €10 million to bring the Nigeria international to Belgium.

According to Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad, the deal would surpass any previous transfer outlay in Genk's history, making Durosinmi the most expensive signing the club has ever made.

Durosinmi's difficult spell in Italy

Durosinmi arrived at Pisa in January after leaving Czech First Division club Viktoria Plzen for a fee of around €11 million. However, the 23-year-old struggled to reproduce the prolific form that had caught Pisa's attention, scoring just one goal in 12 competitive appearances during his six months in Italy.

Following Pisa's relegation to Serie B at the end of the season, the forward is determined to move on during the current transfer window rather than drop down a division with the club.

A familiar path for Nigerian strikers

Should the transfer go through, Durosinmi would become Genk's second summer signing after Jeppe Erenbjerg. He would also follow in the footsteps of two fellow Super Eagles forwards who previously wore the Genk shirt.

Paul Onuachu and Tolu Arokodare both represented the Belgian club before earning moves to the Premier League on the back of standout performances in the Belgian Pro League — a trajectory Durosinmi will be hoping to replicate.
