Grealish Dropped by Everton for Disciplinary Breach

2 hours ago·1 min

Jack Grealish has been dropped from Everton's squad for their Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Newcastle United on Thursday, following what the club described as "a breach of club discipline."

Everton offered no further explanation, though it is understood the incident involved Grealish missing a training session.

The 31-year-old England winger is spending a second loan spell at Everton, having arrived from Manchester City before the transfer window shut. He has made five Premier League appearances for the Toffees this season, adding to his earlier Carabao Cup outing in the third-round victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

A familiar face at Goodison

Grealish is no stranger to Everton, having spent a significant portion of last season on Merseyside under a similar loan arrangement. He scored twice and registered six assists across 20 appearances before a foot injury cut his campaign short in January.

The former Aston Villa captain cost Manchester City £100 million when he joined in 2021 and has struggled for consistent playing time at the Etihad Stadium in recent seasons. He featured as a substitute in City's 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal at Wembley in August, as well as in their 2-1 Premier League win over Bournemouth on the opening weekend of the season.

Grealish had been expected to play a part in Thursday's cup tie before Everton confirmed his exclusion shortly before kick-off. The club has not indicated when he might return to the squad.
