Vitor Pereira Eyes Premier League Return After Nottingham Forest Exit

1 hour ago·1 min

Vitor Pereira has declared his ambition to return to the Premier League and compete for titles, months after departing Nottingham Forest at the close of the 2025/26 season.

The 58-year-old Portuguese coach left the City Ground in July, having steered Forest away from relegation danger and guided the club to the semi-finals of the Europa League — a remarkable achievement for a manager who had been the club's fourth permanent appointment of a turbulent campaign. Oliver Glasner, arriving from Crystal Palace, was named as his successor.

A whirlwind stint at Wolverhampton Wanderers

Before Forest, Pereira had taken charge of Wolverhampton Wanderers, stepping in to replace Gary O'Neil at a club deep in struggle. He quickly won over the Molineux supporters and steered the side to Premier League safety with relative comfort.

The tenure did not last. Pereira signed a new contract in September 2025, only to be dismissed two months later as Wolves slid towards Championship football. Rob Edwards eventually took the reins but could not prevent what became one of the Premier League era's more painful relegations. Wolves have since appointed another Portuguese manager as they look to rebuild.

A globe-spanning career with trophies to show for it

Pereira's managerial journey has taken him across Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Greece, Turkey, Germany, China, and Brazil — where he managed two iconic clubs in Corinthians and Flamengo. Along the way, he claimed league titles with Porto in Portugal, Olympiacos in Greece, and Shanghai Port in China.

Now out of work, the experienced coach made his next ambition clear in an interview with A BOLA TV, cited by Sport Witness.
