Hamburg Reach Agreement With Nice to Sign Nigerian Striker Terem Moffi
Bundesliga side Hamburg have struck a transfer agreement with OGC Nice for Nigerian striker Terem Moffi, according to French outlet Nice-Matin. The precise fee remains undisclosed, but Nice have accepted Hamburg's offer for the 27-year-old forward.
Hamburg had been monitoring Moffi for several weeks, aiming to bolster their attacking options, and will now enter negotiations over personal terms with the player before the deal can be finalised.
A difficult chapter at Nice
Moffi's time at Nice has been far from straightforward. He initially arrived at the Ligue 1 club on loan from Lorient in January 2023, with the transfer made permanent that summer. He has since made 72 appearances for the club across all competitions, registering 24 goals.
Last season proved particularly turbulent. In November, Moffi and several teammates were assaulted by supporters as they stepped off the team bus after a 3-1 defeat to his former club Lorient. The incident forced him onto sick leave for a week.
Loan spell at Porto
Moffi subsequently secured a loan move to Portuguese champions FC Porto for the second half of last season. He made nine league appearances for Porto, contributing one goal, but the club chose not to exercise a permanent option after Nice declined to lower their €8 million asking price.
With Hamburg now stepping in, Moffi looks set to embark on a fresh chapter in Germany — provided the two parties can agree personal terms.
