Hull City have issued a strong condemnation of the racist abuse targeted at their new signing Robinio Vaz, after hateful comments flooded the club's social media announcement of his arrival.

The post, published on Tuesday, confirmed the 19-year-old French striker's move from Roma on a season-long loan deal that includes an option to buy at the end of the season. The announcement has since been deleted.

In a formal statement, the club confirmed they are working alongside Humberside Police and other relevant authorities to trace those responsible for what they described as "disgusting abuse."

"No individual should ever experience discriminatory abuse, and the club will provide Robinio with our full support," the statement read.

Hull City added that they have engaged with the Premier League, anti-discrimination charity Kick It Out, and the relevant social media companies within the 24 hours following the incident.

"Hull City has a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of discrimination. We stand with Robinio and encourage all supporters to continue to report any form of discrimination," the club said.

Vaz, who scored one Serie A goal during last season with Roma, now joins Hull City as they look to bolster their attacking options for the campaign ahead.
