Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has publicly confirmed that the club will bring in at least one winger before the summer transfer window closes, acknowledging the gap left by Mohamed Salah's departure from Anfield.

Speaking at a preseason press conference in Chicago, Iraola was direct about the priority: "We definitely need to sign a winger," he said, adding that other potential additions would depend on how the market develops.

"It is difficult to say a number when the market is open. You have to be always open to new options to improve the squad. There are obvious situations where we know we need to sign players. Winger, for example. We definitely need to sign a winger."

The Liverpool manager stressed that the club would not chase a direct replacement for Salah, but instead target a player whose qualities complement the existing group. "The other situations, we will have to analyse what the market gives you, what the cost is, how we also see the players we have," he added.

Wide options on the radar

Liverpool have been linked with several attacking wide players this window, with Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola among those reported to be of interest. Iraola did not name any specific targets publicly.

The Reds recently completed the signing of Victor Munoz from Osasuna — a versatile addition recruited during Spain's victorious World Cup campaign. With Munoz expected to be available for the start of the new season after a break, Iraola is now focused on adding further depth out wide.

Early business already done

Iraola was appointed in early June, and Liverpool had already secured their first summer signing, centre-back Jeremy Jacquet, before his arrival. Munoz followed as his second senior acquisition. The manager also acknowledged uncertainty in other areas of the squad, noting that injuries to players he trusts create "tricky positions" heading into the new campaign.
