Iraola's Liverpool Era Begins at Newcastle as 2026/27 Premier League Fixtures Revealed

Andoni Iraola will begin his tenure as Liverpool head coach with a trip to St James' Park to face Newcastle United on Sunday August 23, with kick-off scheduled for 4.30pm — live on Sky Sports.
The fixture marks the opening Super Sunday of the 2026/27 Premier League season. Liverpool then host Nottingham Forest and travel to Ipswich in their following two matches to round out the season's opening trio.
Returning to Bournemouth
One of the most anticipated early-season storylines sees Iraola make his first return to Bournemouth — the club he managed before joining Liverpool — away on Saturday September 19. Liverpool also welcome Man City to Anfield on October 10 and host champions Arsenal on October 31, sandwiching a trip to Brentford and a home fixture against Brighton in between.
Derby days and festive fixtures
November brings two fierce rivalries in consecutive weeks: Man Utd visit Anfield on November 21, before Liverpool travel to Everton for the first Merseyside derby of the season on November 28. The year closes with a night match at Aston Villa on December 30.
The festive schedule also includes home fixtures against Sunderland, Leeds, and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as an away trip to Chelsea on December 5 and a visit to Hull on December 26.
A demanding mid-season run
Liverpool face a stern test in the final days of January and the opening days of February 2027. Away fixtures at Man Utd (January 23) and Arsenal (February 6) flank a home match against Everton (January 30) — three high-stakes games in quick succession.
How the season ends
The campaign closes in intriguing fashion. Chelsea visit Anfield on May 1, followed by a trip to Man City's Etihad on May 8. Iraola then sees out his first full season as Liverpool manager with a home reunion against Bournemouth on May 30, bringing his opening campaign full circle.
Key dates for the 2026/27 season
Beyond the Premier League, Liverpool will also be involved in the UEFA Champions League, with the league phase beginning September 8-10 and the knockout rounds starting February 16. The Champions League final is scheduled for June 5 at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid. Domestically, the FA Cup third round falls on January 9, the Carabao Cup final on March 21, and the FA Cup final on May 22.
