Iwobi and Bassey Can't Save Fulham as Manchester United Snatch Late Draw at Craven Cottage

46 minutes ago·1 min

Fulham's miserable start to the 2026/27 Premier League season deepened on Sunday, as Manchester United rescued a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage to leave the hosts without a win in five league matches.

Nigeria internationals Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey both featured for Fulham. Bassey completed the full 90 minutes at the heart of defence, while Iwobi was withdrawn in the 71st minute.

Deflections define the match

Fulham looked set for a precious three points when they broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute. Bassey's shot proved too hot for United goalkeeper Senne Lammens to handle, and the loose ball struck Lisandro Martínez before rolling into the net — an unfortunate own goal that handed the hosts the lead.

However, United struck back deep into stoppage time. In the 89th minute, Matheus Cunha unleashed an effort from outside the box that clipped David Affengruber on its way through, catching Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno completely off guard and nestling into the net.

Fulham's winless streak grows

The result means Fulham have now gone five Premier League matches without a victory — three defeats and two draws — their worst start to a top-flight campaign since the 2020-21 season. They sit in 19th place on two points, firmly in the relegation zone.

Manchester United, for their part, have also struggled to find consistency. Sunday's draw extended their own winless run to three league matches, a sequence that includes two draws and one defeat. They currently occupy 12th place with five points.
