John Arne Riise has opened up about the circumstances surrounding his departure from Liverpool in 2008, admitting that a dip in his own work rate — not external pressure — was the reason his time at Anfield came to an end.
The Norwegian left-back spent seven seasons at the club, making close to 200 appearances and winning the UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup, and the League Cup. By his own account, however, complacency crept in during his final campaign.
