England centre-back John Stones has completed a move to Italian champions Inter Milan on a free transfer, penning a two-year deal after departing Manchester City at the end of June.

The 32-year-old's contract at Manchester City expired following a decade of remarkable success at the Premier League club. During his time at the Etihad, Stones collected six Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, two FA Cups, five League Cups, three Community Shields, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the Uefa Super Cup.

"I've lived all my dreams out," Stones said, reflecting on his nine seasons in Manchester.

A decorated career at City

Stones made 295 appearances for Manchester City after arriving from Everton for £47.5m in 2016. He began his professional journey at Barnsley before moving to Everton, and his development into one of England's finest defenders culminated in a move to the Premier League giants.

Since becoming a free agent, the centre-back attracted serious attention from clubs across Europe, with Chelsea and Juventus both credited with interest before Inter Milan secured his signature.

Inter Milan's title defence begins

Inter Milan claimed the Serie A title for the 21st time last season and will open their defence against newly promoted Monza on Saturday, 22 August, with Stones expected to play a central role in their backline.

On the international stage, Stones has earned 93 caps for England and featured at this summer's World Cup, where the Three Lions finished third. He started the quarter-final victory and came on in the 2-1 semi-final defeat by Argentina.
