Kane Backs Tuchel to Deliver for England and Eyes 2030 World Cup Place

18 hours ago·1 min

Harry Kane has thrown his full support behind Thomas Tuchel as England head coach, insisting the German will grow stronger from the painful World Cup semi-final exit — and the England captain has not closed the door on representing his country at the 2030 World Cup.

Backing Tuchel through the fire

Tuchel came under sustained criticism after England surrendered a 1-0 lead against Argentina following his decision to switch to a back five after the final hydration break. The Three Lions ultimately fell short despite dominating long stretches of the tie, and the elimination felt all the sharper given England went on to beat France in a remarkable 10-goal third-place play-off — recording their highest World Cup finish since 1966 and their best-ever result on foreign soil.

Kane acknowledged in the immediate aftermath that the defensive reshaping had backfired. But speaking to Sky Sports, he was unequivocal in his defence of Tuchel as England look ahead to Euro 2028.
