Keane Blames Fernandes for Foden's Red Card in Manchester Derby

1 hour ago·1 min

Roy Keane has laid the blame squarely at Bruno Fernandes's door for the red card Phil Foden received during Manchester City's derby win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The incident occurred in the 23rd minute when Fernandes went in hard on Foden, bringing the Manchester City midfielder to the ground. Foden, clearly angered by the challenge, then kicked out at the Manchester United captain — a reaction that earned him an immediate dismissal.

Keane, speaking on Sky Sports, argued that Fernandes bore greater responsibility for the flashpoint than the man who was sent off. The former Manchester United midfielder contended that Foden's response, while reckless, was provoked by Fernandes's initial foul and the follow-through that accompanied it.
