Kompany Calls on Musiala to Reach Next Level Ahead of German Cup Semi-Final

Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has urged Jamal Musiala to elevate his game as the Bavarian giants prepare for their German Cup semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen.

Musiala returned to action earlier this season after spending 196 days on the sidelines with a fractured leg and ankle. The Germany international marked his comeback in style, registering an assist in a commanding 5-1 victory over RB Leipzig.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Kompany expressed confidence in Musiala's trajectory while making clear that the attacking midfielder still has room to grow.

"Jamal is in a good phase at the moment. I said it early on, back in January, that he's developed physically. He's now also physically close to his best level, not just in terms of strength but also in terms of his willingness to run."

The Belgian coach acknowledged that Musiala's most dangerous qualities are yet to fully resurface, but insisted the signs are already there.

"Now the question is when will 'Magic Musiala' return? It will come 100%. The moments are there. But even now, what the lad is doing at the moment is very dangerous in front of goal."

Kompany also looked ahead to what a fully unleashed Musiala could mean for Bayern's season.

"When he has this total freedom again, and it will come back, then you will have an even more developed version of Musiala and that, as a coach, makes me happy. But with nine scorer points in 600 minutes he has shown he is ready."

The semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen presents Bayern Munich with a significant opportunity to progress to the German Cup final, with Musiala expected to play a central role in their attacking ambitions.
