Leeds United Agree £34.1m Fee for Sassuolo Defender Muharemovic

Leeds United have struck a deal worth £34.1m with Italian club Sassuolo to sign centre-back Tarik Muharemovic, though the transfer is not yet complete.
The 23-year-old has not yet agreed personal terms or undergone a medical, and several other Premier League clubs are also understood to have registered an interest in the Bosnia-Herzegovina international.
Should Muharemovic choose Elland Road, he would become manager Daniel Farke's second signing of the summer — following the free transfer of attacker Harry Wilson from Fulham — and a direct replacement for Pascal Struijk, who departed for Brighton for £20m in June.
World Cup experience and club career
Muharemovic featured three times for Bosnia-Herzegovina at the World Cup, including in the last-32 defeat against co-hosts the United States. During that match, US forward Folarin Balogun received a red card for fouling him, though Fifa later waived Balogun's suspension following an intervention by US President Donald Trump and White House officials.
Born in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, Muharemovic began his professional career in Austria, making his senior debut with Wolfsberger in 2021. He subsequently joined Italian giants Juventus but failed to earn a first-team appearance there, before a productive loan spell paved the way for a permanent move to Sassuolo in 2025.
Juventus are reportedly in line to receive 50 percent of the transfer fee as a result of a sell-on clause inserted into their sale of the defender last summer.
