Liverpool Eye Brighton's Minteh as Salah Replacement Search Intensifies

Liverpool have made a formal approach to Brighton & Hove Albion to sign winger Yankuba Minteh, as the club accelerates its search for wide attacking reinforcements following the exit of Mohamed Salah.
The 22-year-old Gambia international has made 73 appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion, scoring 10 goals and registering nine assists during that time. Minteh is currently sidelined with a leg injury he picked up in a friendly against Roma earlier this month.
He arrived at Brighton & Hove Albion from Newcastle United in 2024 for a fee of £30 million and has established himself as a right-wing option for the Seagulls.
Barcola remains top target
Manager Andoni Iraola has made reinforcing Liverpool's wide positions his primary objective for the remainder of this transfer window. The Reds have already moved to bolster their options by signing Victor Munoz from Osasuna for £34 million — a player capable of operating on the wing or through the centre.
However, Paris St-Germain's Bradley Barcola remains Liverpool's most coveted target in this window. The 23-year-old France winger is understood to be open to a move to Anfield, but a deal has not yet materialised due to a significant gap in valuations between the two clubs.
Paris St-Germain are demanding a fee in the region of £145 million for Barcola, while Liverpool's preferred figure sits closer to £100 million. With that distance still to bridge, the Reds are continuing to explore alternative options — including the approach for Minteh — as they seek to move forward before the window closes.
