Liverpool Eye Stuttgart Star Jeltsch as Transfer Window Gossip Heats Up

2 hours ago·2 min

Liverpool are among the leading European clubs monitoring Stuttgart centre-back Finn Jeltsch, with Barcelona and Real Madrid also credited with interest in the 20-year-old German defender, according to reports in Spain.

The Reds are also tracking Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, though Chelsea are understood to be the most serious pursuers of the 23-year-old England international, whose summer switch to Stamford Bridge collapsed before it could be completed.

Tresoldi scouted widely but staying at Brugge

Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United have all sent scouts to assess Club Brugge's Nicolo Tresoldi — a 22-year-old Germany youth international striker. However, Club Brugge have made clear they will not sanction a sale in January.

Carrick and the Manchester United managerial picture

Manchester United had reportedly been set to dismiss Michael Carrick this week but were unable to agree on a suitable replacement in time. Should they turn to Newcastle United's Eddie Howe, the club would face a compensation bill of approximately £3 million.

Other transfer developments

Brighton are relaxed about the prospect of losing Diego Gomez, their 23-year-old Paraguay midfielder, despite reported interest from AC Milan and Atletico Madrid.

Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage is said to be facing mounting pressure, with reports suggesting his position could become untenable if his side fall to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Liverpool are also monitoring Valencia winger David Otorbi, aged 19, and could move for him in January — but only if Valencia exercise an option to raise his release clause from £30 million to £50 million.

Finally, Juventus have identified Monaco striker Folarin Balogun as their primary January target. The 25-year-old American forward saw a proposed deadline-day loan move to Everton fall through earlier this season.
