Luděk Mikloško, West Ham United Legend, Dies Aged 64

Luděk Mikloško, the much-loved former goalkeeper of West Ham United, QPR, and the Czech Republic, has died at the age of 64 following a battle with cancer.

The stopper made close to 400 appearances for West Ham United between 1990 and 1998, becoming one of the most celebrated figures in the club's history. Supporters adored him so deeply that they continued to chant his name long after his time at the club had ended.

Mikloško was diagnosed with cancer three years ago. In December 2024, he made the decision to withdraw from treatment — and in the days that followed, he returned to West Ham United's London Stadium for a Premier League fixture against Liverpool, where he received a moving hero's welcome from the crowd.

He had also come back to the club in a professional capacity, serving as a goalkeeping coach after hanging up his gloves.
