The 2027 UEFA Champions League Final has a confirmed home: the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid, Spain. The announcement, made in September 2025, brings the showpiece occasion to one of Europe's most accessible footballing cities.

The final is scheduled for June 5, 2027, giving clubs across the continent a clear target as the new UEFA Champions League campaign gets underway.

Last season's finalists eye a return

Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal will both be eyeing a return to the final, having met in last season's decider at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary. Luis Enrique's Paris Saint-Germain side claimed the trophy, lifting the UEFA Champions League title for the second consecutive season.

For Arsenal, that final ended in heartbreak — the club lost on penalties despite having won the Premier League trophy just weeks before. The Gunners have never won the UEFA Champions League, and their pursuit of a maiden European crown continues this term.

The season before that Budapest showdown, Paris Saint-Germain secured their first-ever UEFA Champions League title at the Allianz Arena in Munich.

A competitive hosting process

Madrid's appointment came after a competitive bidding process. Hungary had initially been part of the race for 2027 but were instead awarded the 2026 final. Italy also entered the first bidding round, with the San Siro considered as a potential venue — until ongoing refurbishment works in Milan ruled it out.

A second round of bidding saw Spain go head-to-head with Azerbaijan, whose capital Baku put forward the Olympic Stadium as its proposed venue. Spain ultimately prevailed, securing the Estadio Metropolitano as the confirmed host for the 2027 final.

Azerbaijani club Sabah FK, meanwhile, make their UEFA Champions League debut this season, facing Manchester United in the league phase.
