Manchester City are reportedly eyeing Pedro Neto as a potential summer signing, in what would be their third high-profile approach toward a Chelsea player this transfer window.

According to Caught Offside, manager Enzo Maresca is keen to reunite with the Portugal winger he signed during his time at Stamford Bridge. Neto joined Chelsea from Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2024 for €60 million, and across Maresca's 18-month spell as head coach he made 74 appearances, contributing 15 goals and 12 assists.

Neto's price tag and Chelsea's position

Chelsea are understood to be open to selling Neto, provided the offer meets their valuation — reported to be in the region of €80 million. That figure would hand the London club a tidy profit on the 26-year-old's original fee.

The Blues have themselves been active spenders this summer, breaking the British transfer record to sign England midfielder Morgan Rogers from a rival club for £117 million — surpassing the short-lived record set by Elliot Anderson, who arrived at City for £116 million earlier in the window.

One potential complication for City is Chelsea's reluctance to strengthen a direct competitor, though their willingness to sell defender Andrey Santos to Manchester United earlier this summer suggests the door may not be entirely closed on further departures to rival clubs.

Why Maresca wants Neto at the Etihad

Neto, who has been based in England since 2019, is entering what many regard as his peak years, and Maresca's personal familiarity with the winger could prove a decisive factor in any pursuit. City's interest in the position is likely to sharpen further if Tottenham formalise their pursuit of Savinho following manager Roberto De Zerbi's public confirmation that Spurs are prioritising attacking recruits.

Liverpool have also been credited with interest in Neto, making for a competitive chase should Chelsea decide to sell. City, however, may hold an edge — the prospect of working again under a coach who already knows how to get the best out of him could carry real appeal for the Portugal international.
